Getting car parking right in new developments is a complex task, not least due to the immense costs of underground parking. Making use of flexible parking requirements adapted to each site as well as customer preferences is a promising new approach.
Within the Innovative Parking project TUB is working together with researchers, developers and planning authorities in Stockholm to demonstrate new ways of planning for parking. The aim is to shape evidence-based new procedures for how to handle the urban parking problem. The project involves a number of sub-studies and real-life pilots. The goal is to construct a living lab with two new residential houses from 2014/15. Houses were inhabitants can experience new mobility solutions and where new approaches to supply and charging for parking are tested. The latest news on the progress of the project can be found on the Innovative Parking website www.innpark.se.
